Algebra Problem 32
Earnings & Inflation

From 1975 to 1990, the average weekly earnings of construction workers in the United States increased by $17.46 per year.

Write a linear growth equation for the earnings.  Then write an exponential growth equation showing what the earnings would have been in order to keep up with the inflation rate. (From 1975 to 1990, the inflation rate averaged 6.2% per year.)

Did the workers’ earnings keep up with inflation?
