Million Dollar Problem

Back Math Online Up Next

The local radio station sponsored a contest to win a million dollars. Well, it wasn’t difficult — you just had to be the ninth caller. Guess what? I was the ninth caller and I won!

My instructions for collecting the money were as follows:

  • Bring a suitcase that can be carried to hold the money.

  • The money will be distributed in one-dollar bills.

  • I will win as much money as I can fit into the suitcases.

I need your help! This is the suitcase I have selected to take to the radio station.

I need you to help me calculate how much money I will win if I use this suitcase. I have given each group of four a stack of 25 one-dollar bills.

You need to clearly show what you did to solve this problem. Each group will then present their solution and how they arrived at that solution to the classroom.
